Hi Dr.Lin,
I was very glad when I found your site. Maybe I eventually can get an answer, and help with a problem that has confused me for many years and for which I haven t dared to talk to any doctor about because I know they wouldn t believe me.
Today I am 33 years old and when I was 17 I started to compete in running and was training hard 6-7 days a week. After a couple of years I discovered that sometimes the day after I had masturbated it had a negative effect on my running. I became a little bit more tiered and seemed to lack some energy in my body. At first I thought it was just imagination, but it wasn t. Back then I masturbated about 2-5 times per week. When I was 22 I stopped to compete but I still try to train 2-3 times per week, but I have become more and more tired after I have masturbated.
I get very dizzy, I feel like I m going to faint, the energy in my muscles disapears, I have trouble to think clear, gets fumbling and my coordination deteriorates. I have felt like this for a few days after I have masturbated then I have felt good again.
Since a couple of years back I have started to misuse this and used masturbation as a drug. Sometimes to be able to fall asleep at night, sometimes to calm me down when I m worried and sometimes as an anaesthesia for my feelings, probably to be able to forgett a girl that I was unhappily in love with. The last 3-4 years I have masturbated 5-10 times per week and some days up to four times.
I have now realized that this is killing my body and decided to stop masturbating or at least cut it down. Today I m very tiered, my digestion isnt t working properly, I haven t got any energy in my body, small spasms in my muscles, and probably suffering from depression. It doesn t get much better if I stop masturbating for a while. I haven t got any problems to get an erection. I have discovered that it isn t so easy to stop. It is like my body wants more and more even if it feals sick from it. It s like if I gets abstinence symptoms after a couple of days.
My questions to you are:
1. If you train your body very hard like I did when I was young and masturbates a little bit to much, what consequences will that have? I know that most sexual advisors says that sex doesn t have any influence on the athletic performance and some even says that it is good fore you. I don t agree with them.
2 I also wondering if you can explain to me what is happening to my body right now and what I should do to feel good again?

Exercise can sweat out the stress hormone to help last longer, but may consume too much testosterone and DHEA for weak erection. It all depends on the demand and supply of your testosterone and DHEA. Hard training will have the negative impact on erection for this reason.
Ejaculation discharge the bioelectric energy stored in the parasympthetic nervous system through the sympathetic function of the prostate, and burn out a lot of hormones - hGH, DHEA, testosterone and estrogen. Particularily, hGH, DHEA and testosterone are related to the elasticity and flexibility of your muscles and ligaments, and they, with estrogen, are associated with the regeneration of your cartilage of your joints.
Thus, your muscles and ligaments lack of hormones after ejaculation and become rigid and inelastic.
You should minimize your exercise activities and take a 20-30 minute nap to let your parasmypathetic and endocrine functions to recharge your body, after ejaculation.
